Dr. Sam Helmeczi received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Medaille College in Buffalo, New York in 2020. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC) in Marcy, New York.
Sam provides psychological services to adolescents and adults. She completed training and received clinical supervision while providing psychological services in schools, day treatment, inpatient, outpatient, parole, and prison settings. Sam has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with various mental health presentations such as anxiety, depression, adjustment concerns, trauma, psychosis, and character pathology. She completed her supervised practice with Susan Chudzik-Sipos, MSc., C. Psych in July 2022. Additionally, she completed her supervised practice at the Federal Parole office in St. Catharines, Ontario where she was supervised by Dr. Joelle Mamuza, Ph.D., C. Psych.
With respect to her treatment approach, Sam primarily practices cognitive-behavioural therapy while simultaneously implementing motivational interviewing and mindfulness-based techniques. Sam acknowledges and emphasizes the importance of the client-therapist relationship and seeks to help clients in a collaborative, warm, and non-judgmental manner.
