INTAKE PROCESS, FAQ and FORMS

How do I get referred to CBT Niagara?

Anyone interested can contact us directly by calling 905-988-1797 or by filling out our self-referral form below. You can self-refer to CBT Niagara.  Referrals can also be made through your family doctor or other health professionals.

What should I expect from the first session?

The goal of the first session is to meet your treating therapist.  During this session you will be provided with information about our centre, limits of confidentiality, and the privacy policy.  The therapist will ask you a variety of questions about the problems you are experiencing.  In addition, you may be asked to complete some self-report questionnaires.  Depending on the reason for your referral, this appointment may take 2 hours to complete.

What is the cost of treatment?

The hourly fee is set in accordance with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  A receipt is provided after each session so individuals may submit them to their insurance company for reimbursement.  In addition, we do offer services on a sliding scale.

Is the fee for sessions covered by OHIP?

Unfortunately, psychological treatment is not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health insurance plans will cover a portion of the fee. It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider to determine whether sessions will be covered.  You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement or submit with your tax return as a medical expense.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept debit cards, credit cards, e-transfers, or cash payments.

Is there a waiting list?

Every effort will be made to have you seen as soon as possible. However, certain therapists at our clinic have varying waiting lists from a week to a few months.  Individuals interested in treatment can request to see a particular therapist or to see the therapist who is available soonest.
